Artist Statement

I am a Glasgow-born visual artist, graduated in BA (Hons) Painting and Printmaking at The Glasgow School of Art in 2021.

Rooted in drawing, my practice is driven by a desire to know the world around me through a process of abstraction: walking, looking, and zooming in. I spend time outdoors in close proximity to found textures, patterns and structures, recording them on the spot to be transformed into drawings, illuminating what is present around us.

Human traces, stains, scuffs, growths and decay are some things that catch my eye. These fragments of visual fodder are unmoored from their original context, reimagined and embellished in colour pencil, graphite, paint and collage using an array of micro-gestures.
